Already posted this, but I'll remake this newpost by copying and pasting the original post plus, some new shit.

Now, when I say 'Sonic Shorts: Volume 1000', I'm being admittedly a bit farcical. This is instead a collab centered around different sonic-themed bits from the YouTube channel, 'Oneyplays.' Since the bits are already pre-made and linked, only animators are required for this project. You are also allowed to sound effects or music, and collaborate with other artists on your entry. Granted, the sound effects and music obviously shouldn't overtake the original audio.

The audio files that you'll animate over will be linked below:

(I will potentially add more bits to this collab: If I do, then I will update this thread with the sketch title and subsequent dropbox link.)

Rules:

Rule 1: The animation can be either widescreen at maximum or 4x3 at minimum. Anywhere in between is also acceptable.

Rule 2: The collab will be 'M'-rated, so any mentions of such foul parts as the PENIS or the occasional PROLAPSE can just be portrayed with black bars over them.

Rule 3: Have your watermark at the bottom right of your entry, specifically in white text with a black layer under it to make it pop out more. You can have it in whatever font, either the awful ones.

Rule 4: When your entry is finished, send it to me in messages via a .mp4 file, since that's what my hard drive works with.

Rule 5: Have fun!!

The deadline for the collab is March 31th, 2024. The collab will then be released on April 1st to XD le prank people thinking it's the REAl volume 9, but the title will be changed the next day cause I'm not evil or anything.

Hopefully you're left smiling like this unknown character after reading this message. Can't wait to see you soon: (not in real life!)

:P

Updates will be added to this thread over time, in case something big ever happens or when I add something new that's important to this collaboration.

UNTIL THEN, GOTTA GO FST!!!!!! :0 *reference for you geeks out there..*

(You must have publicly available examples of your animation to apply, and I may reject your entry if I feel it doesn't match to the par of quality I want set for this collab. If you want to know the level of quality I'm asking for, check out the animator 'Vewn' on YouTube for reference examples.)

So okay, major spoiler warnings upfront. the long and short of it is that the anime was fantastic, and I highly recommend the show where you're familiar with Scott Pilgrim or if you've just heard of the series recently. Now into spoiler warning territory. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm a huge fan of Scott Pilgrim, from the books, to the movie, to the game, It's all great by my standards. It's had both a positive impact on my dream of wanting to become an artist, and my personal life with how I treat my relationships with other people. I was admittedly a bit hesitant when the announcement was made however... hah, no I wasn't. The inner fanboy within me was bursting for joy the second the trailers dropped, enough to completely cloud my judgement, so take this 'review' from a biased perspective. So, Scott dies at the end of episode 1, well not exactly. However, Scott is absent for a majority of the series so the story can instead focus on Ramona Flowers and other characters. During the binge-watch session of this show I engaged in yesterday, I was admittedly a bit worried from this decision to change the story so dramatically and in such little time as well, because Scott Pilgrim's personal improvement as a personal is the main reason why the previous incarnations of Scott Pilgrim worked so well and having him missing would render the development null. Although, after I finished the series, I was admittedly grateful for the anime giving the spotlight to other characters since they're also incredibly charming, with Kim Pine in particular being my favorite. The series also takes a different approach to tackling Ramona's evil exes through having Ramona instead get emotional closure with her exes instead of having Scott defeat them all, since Scott doesn't reappear until episode 7 where it's revealed that his future self (AKA Book/Movie canon Scott) had taken present Scott away from Ramona to prevent them from meeting due to Future Scott having a rough time with Future Ramona. I also enjoy getting to develop the exes as characters in the series, even if those fight scenes were admittedly kickass. This newspost is getting overly long so I'll rapid-fire go through all the remaining thoughts I have. Animation was fantastic, especially during the scenes where the animators really get to show off like the minimal amount of fight scenes. The voice acting was great across the board, no issues here. The series was more raunchy than I would except with both the Kim x Roxie kiss and the Todd x Wallace kiss catching me super off-guard, though I ain't complaining. This show is funny, made me lol and even XD a few times. The soundtrack is incredible. The characters are great, although Wallace is more cynical than in the previous adaptations but that isn't a huge deal. The flashback scenes looked spectacular. The way they incorporated the 'bread makes you fat?' line was so clever it actually made me soyface. Matthew Patel is the leader now and that's really funny. Did I mention the animation was fucking breathtaking? The fact that ended the show with the Plumtree song was so perfect it nearly made my cry, magnificent. So yeah, SCOTT PILGRIM ANIME, IT GOOD, GO WATCH IT. peace.

I was originally going to wait until I reached the actual "milestone" of 100 fans before I made this newspost, but I decided not to, in an attempt to be different and a general lack of patience. So yeah, thanks. I was going to make this big gay statement about how being a part of this community has improved my life, or what Newgrounds means to me, or how I'd never thought that I'd get here, but I also don't have the patience for that either. Ignoring my humorless self-important cynicism for a moment however, I'm glad I was able to make content for people to enjoy after being raised on this website and all the inspiring creators who have since come and gone. Sorry that some of you followed me right after I stopped making art LOL. On that, don't expect anything from me for the rest of the year aside from a few collab entries that I did. Not having the stress of having to create shit for people constantly loom over my head making me think that I had to push shit out in order to not disappoint people is most likely better for my mental health. I'll still lurk around here though, my actual social life is too shallow to fill up all my time. Thanks again. Love you all in a parasocial way, except YOU.

Decided to type out another semi rant-style "essay" thing in vein of that previous post about ThatJohnnyGuy and his wacky escapades, so except my news feed to become my 2008-style blog for a bit till I figure out what the hell this is actually used for.

But enough about that, let's get on to the main topic. AI art. An idea that strikes fear into twitter artist's hearts everywhere. It's no secret that the tools used for AI art have been improving and improving every single day with each image database gaining hundreds and hundreds of new images each day to further refine their styles.

The most recent example of this which you may have observed just from scrolling through your twitter feed for an hour or two, is a new image generator powered by Bing.com, the lesser child's version of the lesser child's version of google. The image you see at the top of this post was generated %100 down to the bone by AI, and you probably couldn't tell at first.

I couldn't either, since the AI had somehow managed to learn exactly how to use the color schemes of early spongebob and have those colors bend in with the background creating an appealing theme. Somehow, it was even able to add the subtle grain filter over the image similar to how season 1 of Spongebob was broadcasted.

Now to no one's surprise, artists freaked the fuck out over this because they knew that if AI progresses its 'skills' (AKA learning and stealing from actual people with skill) at this rate, then artists could reasonably be put out of a job with this and become reduced to flipping burger patties at McDonald's.

Sure, the concept of people using AI on official television projects was a pipe dream and was only met with nothing but severe mockery and deservedly so. But to be completely fair, what's stopping companies from just using AI to animate shows? The recent writers strike that's still ongoing currently shows that the 'big guys' don't give a fuck about the people behind the projects, they just want any random slop they can find so they can sell it to the consumer. Because that's how companies work.

It would only make sense from a business perspective to use AI to preform any human jobs, since they can't revolt, take breaks, or have to get paid even a single damn cent. It's effectively a wet dream for any piece of human scum looking to make a cheap buck to add to their ever-growing monopoly. Now what's my take on this? I'm mixed.

Firstly, I understand completely why most artists are completely against any use of AI in any piece of media no matter the context. AI is fundamentally based off of taking other peoples work and then transforming it into a carbon-copy, usually without any real emotion or touch that made it art in the first place. And this applies to any kinda artform, like music, games, and aforementioned writing.

But I think the hate is getting a bit overwhelming and obnoxious at this rate. Like any other tool in art, AI can be used well and it can be used badly, it just depends on the context and intent. For example, using AI to create storyboards and then working off of those to make improvements versus making all your animation with just AI and making it come out inconsistent and wonky in every single aspect as a result.

Since AI art has resolved into NFT territory of just being an easy target to make fun of and get some cheap clicks from it, people can become overwhelmingly hostile towards any use of this incredibly powerful tool. Case in point, the Scooby-Doo fan project that made use of AI voices.

Now if you don't know the context, some guy in his early 20's decided to make a project based off a crossover idea between Scooby-Doo and the FNAF series in a stopmotion style. Now I haven't seen this video yet and I don't know if I ever plan on watching it but from what I've seen, the animation is pretty impressive for being done by just one guy.

But there was a catch, since the guy couldn't afford any voice actors for any characters aside from Scooby and Shaggy who he voiced,(reminder: this is all from recollection so some details may be slightly off.) he used AI voices for the rest of the gang. This was met with immediate backlash.

Now sure, using someone's voice without their permission in a technical sense is not exactly the best thing to do. But it's hardly different from an edited video of the source material, and the guy wasn't trying to pass off the voices as the real voice actors anyways. But since AI, some shmucks decided to get on their high horse and complain about how this guy was Satan incarnate, and how he was exploiting their voices apparently.

This doesn't make sense, as the project was made for free and wasn't even intended to make any profit back. And again, it was one guy who made use of a tool because he didn't have any other options at the time, quit trying to make every situation a case to make yourself look morally superior. Dickhead.

Now I'll bring up another AI related piece of media that's more recent than the Scooby-Doo video, but is in a completely different context. Princess Jane. For some of you who don't understand what I'm talking about, Princess Jane revolves around a character by the title name who talks about random shit, usually relating to a movie made with all AI content.

Her face is distinctly uncanny valley, looking like a rejected design for a doll made for little girls in the 80's and each line is delivered by a lifeless text-to-speech program while she awkwardly teens around like a piece of Jello throughout the video's runtime. The videos were created by a bluechecker AKA idiot by the name of Rufus who genuinely believes he can make this so called 'AI movie.'

Obviously, these videos were met with people making fun of the video or complimenting the videos and Rufus in an obviously tongue and cheek fashion. But there were some annoying twitter moralists who said that anyone who found the videos funny, was invariably supporting AI stealing artists' jobs. This was a much smaller response, due to most people actively realized how stupid this sounded before they even started typing on the keyboard.

So in current day, it seems AI is here to stay and we'll just have to live with it until then. If you want to fight this growing trend in some way, just follow independent artists and ignore any AI content because any attention either positive or negative towards it is giving those people exactly what they want. Attention.

This is Christian Weston Chandler signing out, see ya'll later. *vaporizes myself into nothing but pure dust and atoms*

So recently ThatJohnnyGuy, a musician/artist who's been on newgrounds respectively seen about 2010 just got exposed for grooming a 16 year old when he was in his 30's.

I wasn't very close to him, and only discovered his work around 2021 and decently enjoyed it enough before all this recent shit came out and about. Now why I am typing about this anyways, if it has nothing to do with me? Simply, to show how common this truly is.

Now don't take this as me defending Johnny's actions or downplaying the victim's own testimony, because I don't feel like doing any of that right now. Short of it is fuck Johnny. This wasn't an issue of him being young and over his head because he was allegedly 31 when the grooming was taking place.

That isn't just a person being in a dark place, that's somebody clearly trying to take advantage of a power dynamic and then saving-face when their victim actually decides to speak up for themselves, so they can save their own reputation. Plain and simple, no matter what pity parties Johnny tried to throw in his last few cryptic messages.

The trend of internet people specifically artists being revealed as groomers/paedophiles/shitheads has been a trend recently, especially on twitter. Most recent example that I could remember was Don of Supermega being accused of sexual assault and Matt and Ryan as rape apologists, although after their apologies, it's clear the situation holds a lot more nuance than how I just described it.

Like with Johnny, this is because internet personalities can hold power over their fans especially when those said fans fester a parasocial relationship. During this state, the victims usually don't talk about it or feel forced to not talk about it in fear that they'll lose that 'special' (abusive) connection with who they believe to be their significant other.

The problem with parasocial relationships in general is a whole other topic that can be discussed to death, and has been as such. Going back to the Supermega drama, lots of people were jumping at the bandwagon to say that Game Grumps and Oneyplays were infinitely better channels in that regard.

While I am an Oneyplays fan, (Don't like Game Grumps anymore ever since Jon left, with Arin getting on my nerves anytime I click on a new video.) this is incredibly inappropriate behavior. Immediately using a touchy situation like SA allegations only to use them to fuel your own personal biases over lets play channels is a shitty thing to do. This applies to Dream as well, but I don't watch his content so I can't personally speak on there as I have no real info over then from most likely biased Twitter posts.

Now what do those last few paragraphs have to do with lil' ol Johnny Boy? That whenever anybody tries to put on a fake nice person persona like Johnny, don't fall into it and just take a glance from a distance. Or more accurately, don't get too attached to any personalities regardless of success or fame because they could eventually get exposed for doing something like this, or committing another felony.

It's perfectly okay to be a fan of somebody, obviously. I'm a huge fan of JohnnyUtah, but I know he isn't some saint who can do no wrong because I personally like his content. There's a difference between liking what a person puts out and actually liking the person behind the screen where they won't ever know you exist, and that second way of thinking is a fine line that feels like crossing of personal boundaries for me.

So TL:DR, don't fuck kids. don't form obsessions with people online you don't know. and learn to do something better with your time than reading newgrounds posts, fag. XDDDDDDddd I am so funneh somebody shoot me in the fucking head right now god why

So that new Foamy cartoon, huh? I thought it was pretty okay, even gave it a nice little review complimenting Jon on how much of a not talentless hack he is.
